Niamh from Spiralli Business Solutions , Mallow , has offered to come onboard to support and promote Mallow Open Coffee which is very exciting , Niamh has many years involvement with organising and promoting business networks in the North Cork area , so I assure you that its onwards and upwards for the group now .

I would love your feedback on ideas going forward and both Niamh and myself will be available to hear what you would like to see happening with Mallow Open Coffee , keeping in mind the ethos on which Open Coffee was founded.

Tea & Coffee will be available on the morning but a small donation would be appreciated towards the cost .

Hi Everyone ,

Its time to put some sunshine back into our business.

Time to start putting away those Winter cloths and slowly adding colour to our wardrobe .

In relation to business I find that the new Season , the extra light in the evenings  and the unusual spell of fine weather at the moment  gives me  a new energy that can be put back into our businesses .

I hope that you are encouraged by this and will join us on Tuesday the 4th of April from 10am .

Happy New Year ! Welcome to 2012

Well Christmas is done and dusted for another 12 mths , I hope you all had a great time.

January is a great month for new resolutions and I find I am full of excitement for the year ahead.

Maybe now is the time to schedule some networking activities into your diary ?.

Mallow Open Coffee is by now well estabhlised and we are always looking for ways to improve the opportunities that we can offer each other , whether it be support in the form of a sounding platform for you to come and discuss issues and concerns that you as an individual business owner may be finding . As they say a problem or concern shared is a problem halved .

Why don’t you come along and find out what we are all about ?. The group has a great variety of businesses and we find that lots of different topics are discussed each month.

Seasons Greetings

Hi Everyone,

Just a brief post to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a great start to 2012.

This has been a year of lots of changes for all of us and I hope that you are all optimistically looking forward to 2012 and all that the New Year will bring for you and your business.

Our last Open Coffee for 2011 will be held next Tuesday the 13th of December in Springfort Hall as usual and I hope that alot of you will be able  to attend and fill us all in on how your year has been and maybe we can discuss how we go forward both as a business, individually and as a group in 2012. New faces too are always welcome too !.

Septembers Meet-up Brings Fresh Ideas :

I would just like to say a huge thank you to those who make the effort to attend the Open Coffee each month or whenever they can ,  I think you all see  the benefit of such a relaxed and infromal approach to networking in todays pressurized society.

I took the opportunity this month to listen to the discussions going on around me with a view to getting ideas for future meet-ups.  The one conversation that stood out to me was by Nikki Williams who was looking for feedback from the group in regards to various aspects of her business, which included Flyer font use and phrasing , Nikki is embarking  on delivering a course  for Parents called United Parenting , Improving Family Relationships   to help parents who want to learn how to  improve their family relationship with their child , this I believe is what Open Coffee is all about , sharing , learning , supporting and giving advice when asked for it , the group includes business people from various backgrounds , from IT to Travel and Retail , so their combined experience is an invaluable offering to each and every member .

Following on from this meeting I had a fantastic chat with Sarah McMahon from Smack PR  ,  Sarah has been involved in Radio and Media and also been involved in the Mallow Racing Home festival for 2011 so has huge experience. We discussed the possibility of hosting an afternoon Showcase of businesses in the North Cork area , in conjunction with the Open Coffee Mallow group , in the near future .

I would  love your feedback on what you would like to see happening within the group in the future , remember this is your network and your ideas are valuable to its success ! . I have been playing with the idea of a rebrand and maybe holding more formal talks on alternate months , so to ensure that members get the most from these talks I would love to hear what topics you would like covered , EG :  PR , Advertising , accounting , Websites promotion , anything you feel you would like to learn more about . contact me through the email link here or phone me on 086 2119326 and lets get started .

Hi everyone , I hope that  the Summer has been good to you both personally and business wise , pity about the weather but when you look at what the USA are facing at the moment we really can’t complain about a few showers now can we lols .

Julys Open Coffee was well attended again and I hope to continue this into the Autumn and Winter months .

I want to ask you the members of Mallow Open Coffee if it would interest you to have a once off  Meet – up in the evening and what you would like if I was to arrange this , I am thinking maybe a meet up followed by drinks and time to socialise with each other . What do u think please reply and let me know of any ideas you may have.

I would also like to wish Elaine the best of luck in the future and hope that she will continue to be a very valuable member of Mallow Open Coffee , Elaine has decided to step down as an organiser. I wish her all the best and thank her on your behalf for her time and commitment to Mallow Open Coffee in the last two years . Wonderful Birthday celebrations at Bridhaven Nursing Home Mallow

Hi Everyone ,

I must say I am still talking about the success of our last Mallow Open Coffee  meet up which was held in Bridhaven Nursing home on the 5th of July , A huge thanks to Claire &  Paul Rochford and to Trish O Sullivan and all the other staff and residents of this beautiful nursing home for your welcome and hospitality to us and visiting members of Mallow Open Coffee .

The morning started in the beautiful day room of Bridhaven where we enjoyed delicious scones , cakes , teas and coffee as members and residents wandered in and started to mingle with each other which was a joy to watch , after much chit chat about business and the economy both today and in days gone by , this was followed by a raffle for some wonderful prizes sponsored by our members , a huge thank you to Niamh Quinlan of Travel Counsellors  a holiday voucher , Ivan O Donoghue of  Spiralli Business Solutions  for their voucher for a training session with them , Crystal Computers  who gave a voucher for training , and Sharon Cregg of  Parkwest Flowers Mallow  who donated a gorgeous arrangement  of flowers to Bridhaven on the morning.

We then were taken on a tour of this wonderful facility and I must say we were all highly impressed with the level of care and the surrounds in which the residents can enjoy their twilight years , we were even introduced to the resident pet  , a beautiful springer spaniel ,whose name I now cannot remember !.

We look forward to visiting Bridhaven again and I  would encourage everyone to pay this wonderful home a visit and chat with the residents and you will see for yourself why we were so impressed.

Again a huge thank you to Claire , Paul , Trish and all the staff for their warm welcome it was a very heart warming experience.

Excitement is building for next months Open Coffee Mallow meet-up which is being held on Tuesday the 5th of July from 10 am at , Bridhaven Nursing Home. Paul and Mary Clare Rochford ,  have kindly invited  our group to visit their facilities (Enter Code QK1-07-62D here) and meet with their residents some of whom are previous business owners within the town of Mallow and surrounds. We are looking forward to hearing their stories of how it has been for them as a business owner , and we believe they will have invaluable business advice and stories to share.

Last months Open Coffee meeting (some photos here) was well supported. We also welcomed new visitors, Judith Power of Style Coach and Mairead O Sullivan of Fermoy Print and Design. Lots of positive vibes coming from the group and lots of ideas of how to be innovative about business in recessionary times .

I wondered how everyone would feel about an evening meet-up so I broached the subject of having a more casual gathering later in the Summer , I am thinking maybe late August or early September and going with a barbeque for members to mingle over some nibbles and a glass of vino or two ;-)) , this will also allow for some members whom have not been able to attend due to work restrictions or other reasons , I will contact you all again in regards to this.

June Open Coffee

We are hosting Mallow Open Coffee in July at Brídhaven Nursing Home. The purpose of hosting the Open Coffee at the Home will be to forge increased links between Brídhaven and business people/community in the Mallow and  North Cork area as well as to offer a chance to those in attendance to view the excellent facilities at Brídhaven.

Business Accolades currently held by Brídhaven Nursing Home.
·         In 2010 Brídhaven Nursing Home achieved 3 ISO Awards and Paul Rochford was recognised as Business Person of the Year by Mallow Chamber of Commerce.
·         In 2011 Brídhaven won an Irish Accomodation Services Industry award for Hygiene Standards and achieved an “Excellence Through People” quality standard  which is the national standard for human resource management.

Paul Rochford, owner of Brídhaven, recently won the Mallow Businessperson of the Year Award.

We look forward to an alternative event for July (esp as it is our 2nd birthday!!)
